Thanks to your generous donations earlier this year, Builders Care Austin is providing 43 Blackshear Elementary families with $50 HEB gift cards.
“Austin builders are thankful for the opportunities this city has provided us, and Thanksgiving is the perfect time to give back,” said Ed Ishmael, chairperson of Builders Care. “This is just onemore example of how Austin’s builders continue to support the communities in which we build.”
Over the last two years, Builders Care Austin has given $20,000 to AISD to pay down student lunch debt and fund after school tutoring. When asked about this latest giving effort, Builders Care board member, donor, and Austin infill builder Julie Ruisinger, replied:
“We build homes for Austin families, and Thanksgiving is a time for families to gather, enjoy great food, and enjoy each other. We simply wanted to help make Thanksgiving a little more enjoyable for these families.”
According to Communities in Schools, more than 70,000 children in Central Texas live in poverty and face challenges that stand in the way of learning, like hunger, trauma, homelessness, poverty, and poor health.
“The holidays can be an especially stressful time for struggling families,” said Blackshear Elementary Principal, Rick Garner. “This generous effort by Builders Care will help ease the financial burden some families face during the holidays and help make their holidays a bit brighter. We are, yet again, grateful to Builders Care for their continued generous support of our community.”
As you are considering your year-end gifts, please keep Builders Care in mind. All donations are tax deductible.
